Doe - An adult Pygmy female
Doeling - A kid Pygmy female
* We recommend waiting until your doeling will be 2 by the time she delivers to breed a Doe for the first time. They have a gestation of 150 days.
* A Doeling can be bred too early and it does cause birth complications that put mom and kids at risk.
* We separate our Does from our Bucks until it's time for their "Date Nights" beginning in late September for Kids to arrive the last week of February.
* We breed once a year, but Pygmy goats can be bred twice a year.
Buck - An adult Pygmy male with his dangly bits
Buckling - A kid Pygmy male with his dangly bits
* A Buckling can breed as early as 8 weeks. We recommend separating him from Does and Doelings around 8 weeks with only supervised nursing with mom. You can also purchase a buck apron for them.
* We do not recommend buying a buck (without the intention of castrating him at the appropriate time) unless you plan to breed him. Although we love our bucks, they are stinky, pee on their face and legs, and get a bit rowdy at breeding time.
Wether - A Pygmy male who no longer has his dangly bits and can not breed.
* We recommend wethering at 3/4 months to insure their Urethra is fully formed. This limits the chance of Urinary Calculi in the future.
*Wethers make excellent companions to your family, does, bucks, wethers, and kid goats. They do not have breeding cycles and can stay with their friends year round.
Doelings are in high demand but not necessary if you just want companion Pygmy goats. Consider a Wether!
